Mission – The mission of the Ready Carlsbad Business Alliance (RCBA) is to promote business emergency preparedness, continuity of operations and community recovery through services, educational programs and cooperative partnerships.
History – The RCBA was formed in 2011, in large part motivated by the strategic framework presented in FEMA’s “Whole Community Approach to Emergency Management”. It was conceived and established by three Carlsbad Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) members. Ready Carlsbad is a relationship between the Carlsbad Chamber of Commerce, local businesses and the City of Carlsbad. It is, however, open to all local businesses, regardless of Chamber membership. RCBA joined the Carlsbad Chamber’s Education Committee 501(C)3 in 2012 to establish the foundation for community recovery donations management. Originally established as a Chamber Task Force, the Alliance matured to Chamber committee status in January 2014. It is an extremely active committee within the Carlsbad Chamber of Commerce Organization.
Achievements – Since its inception, Ready Carlsbad has been actively working with the Carlsbad business and citizen communities in several aspects:
- Annual Ready Carlsbad Emergency Preparedness award to a local business for their exceptional emergency preparedness efforts Frequent symposiums focused on some aspect of emergency preparedness (See Events)
- Financial support to businesses in need after the 2014 Poinsettia Wildfire
- Frequent meetings featuring a prominent emergency services or community representative discussing topics pertinent to current events
